Steve Hawrishok

A life-long educator, Steve Hawrishok, B.Ed., AIIC, CAIB believes learning is made easier when it's fun. This mindset has made Steve a leading educator across many disciplines and age groups. Starting his career as a high school teacher and later principal in rural Saskatchewan, Steve focused on the building blocks of education, preparing his students for future successes in all aspects of life.

A career change took Steve to the insurance industry where he exceled as an insurance broker, owner/operator of an insurance and real estate brokerage and executive director of a major provincial trade association. His dedication and expertise in the industry led him to create and author two major programs: the Fundamentals of Insurance which is used in most provinces in Canada as the mandatory entry-level licensing program for the general insurance industry, and the Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) program, a four-part step-licensing program used in all Canadian provinces (except Quebec).

In 1991, Steve and his wife Laurie incorporated ILScorp, a company dedicated to educating Canadian insurance professionals. Steve began teaching CAIB immersion courses to thousands of students who saw Steve not only as their instructor, but as an ambassador to the insurance industry. Always cognizant of the world around him, Steve and ILScorp decided to join the Internet age and take education online. In 2000, ILScorp became the first independent Canadian insurance educator to offer both licensing preparation and continuing education courses to the insurance industry via the internet.

A true pioneer in education, Steve continues to develop and create educational programs and courses, including the ILS Introduction to General Insurance Course.
